Abstract

Purpose: the research sought to evaluate the implementation of the normative acts that make up the National Policy for Comprehensive Health Care for Persons Deprived of Liberty - PNAISP, in the prison located in the Capital of Brazil. Methodology: data on health care for the prison population were collected from official websites of public health and public safety institutions, both federal and local, comparing them with the content of the regulations on the PNAISP. Findings: the prison has a population of 15,111 prisoners, and the Health Department provides a reasonable number of professionals from various specialties, but the number of medical and dental care in a large prison population like that is very low. In terms of the application of immunizations, the data show that all arrested individuals were vaccinated, at least with two doses against Covid-19. Conclusion: The health system, not that it refers to the Prison of the Brazilian Capital, despite the fulfillment of some normative requirements, is still short of full compliance with the policy.
