Abstract
ABSTRACT: The present study aimed to evaluate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the quality of life of academics at an Afro-Brazilian international cooperation university. This is a quantitative, analytical and cross-sectional survey, carried out through the collection of data through an online questionnaire, which was made available via email, in the hidden list format,
between the months of February and July 2022, to undergraduate students on the Ceará and Bahia campuses. The study included undergraduate students with active enrollment, in a faceto-face or distance learning course, aged 18 years and over, during the period of data collection. A total of 225 students participated in the study, mostly represented by single people (88.9%), female (56.9%), Brazilian (68.8%), unemployed (87.6%) and not receiving any type of aid or scholarship from the institution (54.7%). It was also observed that during the pandemic, the averages of the physical, psychological, social relations and environment domains simultaneously decreased, showing that there was a negative impact of the pandemic on the
quality of life of students. The results point to a complex picture, involving socioeconomic, cultural and health factors, indicating the need to expand the development of studies that monitor the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the lives of students, with the aim of supporting the elaboration of coping strategies of the problems arising from the effects of the pandemic on the lives of the population.
