Abstract

This article analyses the development of an educational action on food and nutritional safety involving the Landless Rural Workers’ Movement in the Metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. Based on the experience report, it emphasizes the action methodology, the mobilized knowledge and the changes in health practices, food safety and agricultural production of the subjects involved. The reflections point to some elements of the methodology that contributed to the development of this educational activity; to the building of an expanded conception of the health-sickness process from the inter-relationship among health, production, food and popular care practices; besides the challenges and potentialities for the strengthening of food and nutritional security in the agrarian reform areas that integrated the experience.
