Abstract

This text aims to report the classroom experience of a collective health undergraduate student in a seminar on pharmacovigilance. This is an account of an experience lived by a 5th semester undergraduate student of the Bachelor's Degree in Collective Health at an university in the northern region of Brazil, in the discipline of Health Surveillance III in 2022. The class had three distinct moments: 1) content sharing; 2) conversation circle with the class; 3) teacher feedback and closure. In the presentation of the seminar content, the following script was used: Introduction to health legislation; Anvisa's assessment of products for sale in Brazil; scientific rigor in relation to products under sanitary surveillance; pharmacovigilance in Anvisa's pre-registration and post-registration; important concepts in pharmacovigilance; and reporting adverse events related to drug use. The students expressed themselves in the conversation circle on topics related to vaccination, the role of the health worker in pharmacovigilance, fake news and off-label use of medicines in the pandemic and health education and accessibility to leaflets. The activities developed by pharmacovigilance go beyond health care, approaching collective health practices. The experience allowed to broaden the view on the unfolding of the pandemic in the local and national community. It is hoped that methodologies like this and other participatory methodologies can be replicated during the training of bachelors in public health and that subjects like this can be directly included in the curriculum.
