Les groupes anti migrants de Calais: le spectacle de la vigilance

Abstract

Since the early 2000s, the city of Calais has become an important crossing point for people wishing to migrate to the UK. Since 2013, anti-migrant groups have been campaigning for the expulsion of all migrants. Their repertory of action mingles classical demonstration and harsher vigilantism. In this paper, we will study the spectacular dimension of their vigilantism as well as their agonistic relationship to the figure of the migrant.
