Abstract
To analyze how breastfeeding difficulties in the immediate postpartum period, factors that directly or indirectly affect breastfeeding. Cross-sectional and quantitative observational study with descriptive and analytical approach, conducted in October and November 2019, with 57 women in their immediate postpartum period. Used as an assessment tool, a patient identification form for socioeconomic and obstetric data and breastfeeding observation and evaluation form, analyzed the favorable signs for breastfeeding and signs of possible problems. The data collected was not compiled in the SPSS version 25 program for Windows. After a data analysis, represented by the media and standard deviation and frequency. We found the largest number of suggested changes for breastfeeding, aspects of the general observation of the mother and the position of the baby. The less favorable scores (regular and poor), which show a possible difficulty in breastfeeding, were present in the grip and suction. It was accompanied by women with many doubts and fears about breastfeeding, even with most prenatal consultations in significant numbers. Concluding that there is a possible difficulty in training these women for breastfeeding, brings the importance of monitoring and support during the postpartum maternity.
