Abstract

Based on the habitus, the research based on ethnography approach aims to understand the knowledge and the experience about the sexuality of the young women who live at the agricultural communities of the Pantanal Mato-grossense in the District of Joselândia - City of Barão de Melgaço. This study was carried out during the months of October and November in 2008. It was defined as a piece of writing for inquiring women aged 14 and 20 years who have already faced sexual experiences, resulting or not in pregnancy. Field notes, direct observations, iconography sources were used as methodological resources. A number of 32 semi structuralized interviews were carried out. The characterization of the experience of the sexuality and pregnancy in youth as a health problem, emphasized in studies about these issues, denotes the disrespect of the symbolic meanings about the women’s experiences in the agricultural environment with its proper cultural specificities. The gathered data points that young women’s experience of their sexuality at this investigative locus constitutes a health problem concerning the inexistence of healt action that could guarantee their assistance. This lack of help causes disastrous results for the subjects as Sexually Transmitted Disease –STD and unwanted pregnancy. The investigated subjects have been at risk without prenatal attendance and assistance in the childbirth.
